On January 21st, 2025, a vibrant Tiwa Geet and Dance workshop was inaugurated by the Hon’ble MLA, Mr. Debabrata Saikia, at the Multipurpose Cultural Complex in Nazira. The event, jointly organized by the voluntary organization PROBAAH and ONGC, Assam Asset, Nazira, aimed to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Tiwa songs and dances. The workshop ran until February 5th, 2025, and was a resounding success.
The closing ceremony was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Nadiram Deuri, Master Trainer, and his team, Mrs. Poonam Dutt from the ONGC CSR Office, Mr. Jeeban Kalita, President of Sivasagar District Sahitya Sabha, and Shri Juga Gogoi, former President of Sivasagar District Sahitya Sabha. Local dignitaries, social workers, trainees, and their parents also attended the event, making it a memorable occasion.
Throughout the workshop, trainees expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn and master Tiwa songs and dances. The initiative was widely appreciated for its efforts to preserve and promote the traditional art forms of the Tiwa community.
