PROBAAH DEVELOPMENT TRUST and PROBAAH (NGO) jointly organized a vibrant Children’s Day celebration at the Deopani Banuwa Navajyoti L.P. School on November 14, 2025.
The event saw the enthusiastic participation of 142 students who competed in various categories, including art, poem recitations, songs (including the famous song of Jubeen Garg), and other physical competitions.
The occasion was graced by the school’s teachers and staff, the CRCCs of three clusters, and esteemed local social workers, whose presence added great encouragement for the young participants. The event was a wonderful celebration of childhood talent and spirit.
The celebration concluded with an award ceremony, where winners from each competition category were honored. Additionally, students who excelled in their class examinations were also recognized for their academic achievements.
The Charaideo District Administration organized an awareness meeting on drug abuse and illicit trafficking in association with PROBAAH (NGO) at Dighalishyam Gaon, Charaideo district.
First, Krishna Kanta Gogoi, Coordinator of PROBAAH, addressed the public regarding drug abuse, illicit trafficking, and their impact on students and youth in the local area. He highlighted Assam’s location in a border region near states like Nagaland, Manipur, and Mizoram, and its proximity to the international border, creating significant potential for illicit trafficking. Mr. Gogoi also emphasized that children whose parents maintain strong relationships are better positioned to prevent drug abuse. Furthermore, he detailed the detrimental effects of drugs on the human body, impacting individuals mentally, socially, and physically.
Other prominent local leaders also spoke about the impact of drugs on affected individuals and students.
Supervisor, Mrs Anamika Gogoi, Supervisor, Lakwa ICDS project discussed the behavior of drug-affected persons within the local community. Mrs Sitangona Handique, BPA of Lakwa ICDS Project spoke about the necessity of such awareness initiatives and provided information on helpline services available for the prevention and assistance of affected individuals.
Amguri, Assam – In a commendable initiative to provide healthcare access to underserved communities, PROBAAH, an Assam-based NGO, in association with ERC, Sivasagar, organized a free eye camp at Mozdur Club, Borbam TE, Amguri. The camp aimed to address the eye care needs of tea garden workers and local residents who often face difficulties in accessing medical facilities.
Bridging the Healthcare Gap
For the residents of tea garden areas, visiting hospitals or nursing homes for regular health check-ups is often a challenge due to financial constraints and lack of transportation. Recognizing this issue, PROBAAH and ERC eye care hospital, Sivasagar, brought essential eye care services directly to the community, ensuring free health screenings and treatment.
Key Highlights of the Camp

189 patients were examined and provided with necessary free medicines,
Cataract patients identified(38 nos.) during the camp will be brought to ERC Hospital, Sivasagar, for further treatment starting from next Tuesday.

A Step Towards Better Vision and Health
The camp brought immense relief to the attendees, many of whom struggle with untreated vision problems. By offering diagnosis, medication, and follow-up care at no cost, the initiative has significantly improved the quality of life for hundreds of individuals.

In a significant boost to science education in Assam, the newly constructed science laboratory at Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia Senior Secondary School, Sixmile,Panjabari, Guwahati was officially inaugurated today. The project, made possible through the Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) funding of ONGC, Assam Asset, Nazira, was executed by PROBAAH, a dedicated voluntary organization working for social development in Assam.
A Dream Turned into Reality
The construction of the laboratory began in September 2024 and was completed in a span of seven months. With a generous grant of Rs.9,68,000.00 from ONGC’s CSR initiative, the school now boasts a modern, well-equipped science lab that will provide students with hands-on learning experiences and foster scientific curiosity.

On January 21st, 2025, a vibrant Tiwa Geet and Dance workshop was inaugurated by the Hon’ble MLA, Mr. Debabrata Saikia, at the Multipurpose Cultural Complex in Nazira. The event, jointly organized by the voluntary organization PROBAAH and ONGC, Assam Asset, Nazira, aimed to celebrate and promote the rich cultural heritage of Tiwa songs and dances. The workshop ran until February 5th, 2025, and was a resounding success.
The closing ceremony was graced by esteemed guests, including Mr. Nadiram Deuri, Master Trainer, and his team, Mrs. Poonam Dutt from the ONGC CSR Office, Mr. Jeeban Kalita, President of Sivasagar District Sahitya Sabha, and Shri Juga Gogoi, former President of Sivasagar District Sahitya Sabha. Local dignitaries, social workers, trainees, and their parents also attended the event, making it a memorable occasion.
Throughout the workshop, trainees expressed their gratitude for the opportunity to learn and master Tiwa songs and dances. The initiative was widely appreciated for its efforts to preserve and promote the traditional art forms of the Tiwa community.

The Tiwa Song and Dance Workshop commenced with its inaugural session today, January 21, at 2:30 PM at the multipurpose cultural centre of PROBAAH. Organized by the Assam-based NGO PROBAAH in collaboration with ONGC under its CSR initiative, the workshop aims to celebrate and preserve the cultural heritage of the Tiwa community.
The Hon’ble MLA of Nazira constituency, Mr. Debabrata Saikia, inaugurated the workshop. In his address, he highlighted the significance of Janajati Gourav Varsh and the invaluable contributions of indigenous communities to our culture. He also emphasized the importance of Tiwa songs and dances, delivering an inspiring speech to the attendees.
Officials from ONGC’s CSR wing, including Mr. Durgesh Bhatia, DGM of Human Resources (CSR), and Mr. Ajay Panthe, shared their insights on the critical role of such initiatives in preserving regional traditions and fostering cultural pride.
Master trainer and cultural mentor, Mr. Nadiram Deori, introduced himself and his team of trainers, setting the tone for the workshop with enthusiasm and expertise. Esteemed guests, including Mr. Dembi Ram Panging, Chairman of SEWA (Nazira-Sivasagar branch), Mr. Nipen Pegu, Joint Secretary of SEWA, and Mr. Diganta Mech, attended the event to extend their support.
The event was further enriched by the presence of Mr. Jog Gogoi, former of the President of Sivasagar District Sahitya Sabha, along with other prominent local personalities.
More than 50 enthusiastic students from local schools and colleges participated in the launch event. This 16-day workshop offers these young learners an opportunity to immerse themselves in the vibrant traditions of the Tiwa community, ensuring the preservation and promotion of its rich cultural legacy.
Today, the foundation stone was laid for the construction of a toilet equipped with a water filter at Bihubor Siloni High School, Nazira, for the benefit of the school’s teachers and students. Assam’s leading voluntary organization, PROBAAH, will construct and oversee the project with financial assistance from ONGCL’s CSR funds. The foundation-laying ceremony was inaugurated by the Hon’ble MLA of Nazira constituency, Mr. Debabrata Saikia Dev. He was joined by social worker Shri Manjir Gogoi, former Nazira municipality chairman Shri Abdul Rahman, former Bihubar Gram Panchayat President Smti Manju Bora Baideo, local social worker Mr. Anupal Baruah, along with other dignitaries, students, teachers, and parents. Speaking at the ceremony, the MLA remarked that this construction would fulfill a long-standing need for the school.”
Today, on the occasion of the birth anniversary of the Father of the Nation, Mahatma Gandhi, and the former Chief Minister of Assam and former Governor of Mizoram, Karmashree Hiteshwar Saikia, an art competition among children for the mental and intellectual development of students was organized at Nazira Natya Mandir. Additionally, a dance competition based on patriotic songs and a patriotic songs competition were held. Around 150 contestants participated in the competitions. The winners of these contests are:
Assam-based NGO, PROBAAH, in collaboration with the 49 No(A) Naval Unit of Nazira College, organized a cleanliness drive event in the library of PROBAAH and PROBAAH Sangeet Vidyalaya is currently located at Sonpura and Nazira respectively. At the Library and PROBAAH Sangeet Vidyalaya in Nazira, various plants and garbage that harm the environment were cleared today. ONGC, Assam Asset, Nazira provided special assistance for this event, held under the Government of India’s “Sachchata hi Seva, 2024” initiative. A total of 42 students participated in the event. Additionally, executive members of PROBAAH, including Md. Abdul Rohman, Gajendra Sharma, Prasanta Borthakur, and Hemant Gogoi, were also present. The president of PROBAAH extends heartfelt thanks to all those who participated in this event.
