A Clean-Up Initiative at Simaluguri Railway Station under Swachhata Hi Seva,2024 By ONGCL, Assam Asset, Nazira and PROBAAH

Today, under the Swachhata Hi Seva initiative by the Government of India, in a joint venture with ONGC, Assam Asset, Nazira, and PROBAAH, Nazira, the garbage dumps near the market by Simaluguri Railway Station were cleaned and removed with the help of members and the public. Mr. Ajay Panthe, the officer of the CSR Office, and his associates from ONGCL were present on the occasion, along with Shri Ananta Kalita, Shri Dilip Hazarika, Shri Jadu Hazarika, and journalists from several local newspapers and news portals. The event was attended by the executive members of PROBAAH, including Shri Prashant Borthakur, Hemanta Gogoi, Jayshree Borthakur, Tapan Konwar, and students from Nazira College with public under Simaluguri Municipal Board. On behalf of PROBAAH, Krishna Kanta Gogoi thanked all the participants. Additionally, various individuals were given T-shirts, hats, Rain coats and bags to promote Swachhata Hi Seva more widely during the event.

Tri Prasad Diwas was celebrated at the initiative of PROBAAH at VKV, Sivasagar.

Tri Prasad Diwas was celebrated today at the initiative of PROBAAH, a voluntary organization based in Assam in association with Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya, Sivasagar. At the beginning of the event, a lamp was lit in their honor. The lamp was kindled by Devayani Bakalial, Assistant professor of the Assamese Department at Gorgaon College, and respected sir Mr Basudev Upadhyaya the principal of Vivekananda Kendra Vidyalaya (Mathiasiga). Along with other dignitaries Mr Ranjit Muktia sir they delivered valuable speeches to the students.

In addition to student performances, various activities such as a Drawing competition, story telling competition, and dance competition were organized for the students. The judging panel included respected madam’s Smti Queen Bora, Pallavi Phukan, Simi Chamoa, Ajanta Saikia, Purabi Gogoi, Sangeeta Gogoi, and Bobita Saikia. More than 370 students participated in the event.

PROBAAH Celebrates World Environment Day 2024 with a Community Plantation Program in Soladhara Village.


On World Environment Day on 5th June,2024, PROBAAH organized a plantation program in Soladhara village under the Holophukan Gram Panchayat. The event witnessed active participation from various community members and officials, underscoring a collective commitment to environmental conservation. Supervisor Smti. Anamika Gogoi, Utpal Phukan, and Abha Gogoi from the Lakuwa CDPO office graced the occasion with their presence. Alongside them were dedicated Anganwadi center workers, helpers, local residents, and children, all contributing to the green initiative.

A diverse array of saplings was planted, reflecting the community’s dedication to enhancing local biodiversity and promoting sustainable practices. The enthusiastic participation of around 36 people, including children, highlighted the importance of fostering environmental awareness from a young age. The event not only aimed at greening the local landscape but also at educating the community about the significance of trees in combating climate change and sustaining ecological balance.

The plantation program organized by PROBAAH was a significant step towards creating a greener and healthier environment in Soladhara village. It served as a reminder of the vital role that every individual plays in preserving the planet for future generations. The collaborative effort marked a meaningful celebration of World Environment Day, 2024.

Awareness Camp on Prenatal Care, Vaccination, and Hygiene at Naharhabi TE, Charaideo.

On May 27, 2024, the Assam-based NGO PROBAAH, in association with the Lakwa ICDS Project, organized an awareness camp at Naharhabi TE in Charaideo. The special guests included Dr. Pronobjyoti Nath (CHO, Naharhabi Auyshman Aarogya Mandir), Dr. Trishna Khanikar (CHO, Naharhabi), Dr. Abhisekh Shah (Naharhabi TE Medical Officer), Mr. Dipen Baruah (DC, Poshan Abhiyan, Charaideo), Mr. Ronen Gogoi (MPW), Asha Supervisor, ANMs, and ASHA representatives from Naharhabi. The camp focused on prenatal care, vaccination, and hygiene for pregnant and lactating mothers adol.girl’s. Other guest speakers also delivered speeches on related subjects. “PROBAAH Organizes Art Competition and Memory Test on the occasion of the death anniversary of Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia, Former chief Minister of Assam in Nazira Sub-Division

The Assam-based NGO PROBAAH organized an art competition, storytelling, and memory test among students from 13 schools in the Nazira sub-division on the occasion of the death anniversary of Karmashree Hiteswar Saikia, Former chief Minister of Assam. The program was held in association with the Cluster Resource Center Coordinator (CRCC) at 328 No Kapahuwa LP School on April 22, 2024. A total of 145 students participated in the competitions, and the winners were awarded prizes along with certificates. The special guests included Dr. (Mrs.) Hemaprova Saikia, former minister of the Assam government, Smti Bandana Saikia, VP of PROBAAH, Sri Amrit Gogoi, school headmaster, Sri Iyang Gam, teachers of 328 No. Kapahuwa L.P. School, Mrs. Anjana Raidongia, Smti Dipali Duwarah, teacher of Khatkhati ME School and others teachers of various schools and news correspondents Mr. Polash Handique and two others.

International Day of Non-Violence on 2nd Oct. and Birth anniversary of former Chief Minister of Assam Karmashree Hiteshwar Saikia Dev on 3rd October, 2023 by PROBAAH at MC Club, Nazira.

On the occasion 154 the Birth Anniversary of the Father of Nation,Mahatmas Gandhi ji on 2nd October 2023 which is also celebrated as the International Day of Non-Violence since 2007 and the birth anniversary of former Chief Minister of Assam Karmashree Hiteshwar Saikia Dev on 3rd October were celebrated in M.C Club, Nazira.Coinciding the Birth anniveries a painting, story telling, dance, poetry recitation competitions were organized among the students today under the initiative of Assam based NGO, PROBAAH. Mrs. Rinu Bora Baideo, Retired CDPO inaugurated the event by lighting a lamp in the portrait of Mahatma Gandhi ji.Smti.Ayushi Jain IAS, SDO(C), Nazira also graced the occasion with a valuable short speech. Retired Principal, Mr.Sabharam Gogoi, Juktali Zila Parishad Member, Mr.Lakhi Nath Handique, Ex Chairman of NMB, Mr.Abdur Rahman, Associate Proffessor, Mr. Gajendra Sharma, Social Worker, Mr. Apurba Baruah also graced the auspicious occasion as guests.

PROBAAH observed World Environment Day 2023.

The voluntary organization PROBAAH, associated with Dholebagan H.S. School in Nazira is observed World Environment Day 2023 at the Children’s Park in Sukafa G.P. under the Nazira sub-division. The plantation program was inaugurated by Mr. Mohan Handique, the Principal of Dholebagan H.S. School, in the presence of Mrs. Sujata Borgohain, Mrs. Jahnobi Borgohain, Md Zeraul Rohman, Mr. Horen Gogoi, and the Executive member of PROBAAH, Sri Hemanta Gogoi, who serves as the Coordinator. More than 65 students actively participated, and over 50 saplings of various fruits were planted.

Free eye camp at 2 No. Lahon Gaon by PROBAAH


“A free eye screening camp was held at the premises of 2 No Lahon Gaon LP School under the Nazira sub-division by PROBAAH in association with the District Blindness Control Society of Sivasagar. PROBAAH has been conducting such camps at various places in Nazira. Medicines were distributed free of cost to the needy, and spectacles were given to around 50 people in the presence of Nazira Hon’ble MLA, Sjt. Debabrata Saikia sir, and Mrs Bandana Saikia, Adv. of PROBAAH. After testing at the camp, arrangements were made to provide cataract surgery to 21 persons at Sivasagar Civil Hospital, starting next Monday. A total of 109 people benefited from free medicines and treatment at the camp. Awareness camp on Child marriage and menstrual hygiene at Lakuwa T.E. by PROBAAH.

An awareness camp on child marriage and menstrual hygiene was held at Lakuwa Bagan by  the voluntary organization PROBAAH in collaboration with Sivasagar ICDS Project (Rural) under  Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Assam.
Present on the occasion were Smt. Bharati Kalita, Special Guest with Integrated Child Development Project Officer, Sivasagar(Rural), Supervisor of Lakuwa Circle, Smt. Mubina Sultana Quuyum, Shri Manuj Gogoi, Block Project Coordinator, Smt. Chayanika Gogoi as resource person, teachers of tea garden area’s schools, parents, anganwadi workers, and adolescent girls and eminent personalities near Lakuwa Gardens.

The special guest present highlighted the problems related to child marriage in the tea garden area. Smt. Bharati Kalita of CDPO highlighted the challenges faced in ensuring the education and health of adolescent girls due to the daily hard working lifestyle of the parents of adolescent girls in tea gardens. As a result, adolescent girls become illiterate and are unable to communicate with people from other regions, leading to an increase in the prevalence of child marriages. Assam accounts for 27% of child marriages in India. She also stressed the need for proper education in hygiene and related matters to be taken during the period of adolescent girls.

Smt. Chayanika Gogoi, the resource person for the training, gave an informative talk on the hygiene that adolescent girls have to take during their periods and how they can take care of themselves during their periods.

The coordinator of PROBAAH delivered a welcome speech explaining the objectives of the organization and the reasons for the importance in the tea garden area. More than 69 adolescent girls, 26 parents, and other persons were present at the camp. Overall, the camp concluded with a major success in raising awareness about child marriage and menstrual hygiene in the tea garden area.

One day awareness cum training programme on cultivation, processing and marketing of medicinal and aromatic plants of NE India

On 11th March, 2023, CSIR-NEIST in collaboration with NGO PROBAAH organized a one day awareness cum training programme on the cultivation, processing and marketing of medicinal and aromatic plants of NE India. The event was graced by special guests including Sjt Debabrata Saikia, Hon’ble MLA, Nazira, Dr. Mohan Lal, Sr. scientist, NEIST, Jorhat, Lankan Kalita, Agri Engineer, Guwahati, and Smti. Priyanka Dutta, KVK, Sivasagar. The programme aimed to enlighten cultivators, farmers and entrepreneurs about the nuances of medicinal plant cultivation and marketing. The speakers shared their insights on the importance of medicinal plants, their benefits and how to leverage marketing opportunities to benefit from them.100 nos. of trainees were participated.
