The voluntary organization PROBAAH, associated with Dholebagan H.S. School in Nazira is observed World Environment Day 2023 at the Children’s Park in Sukafa G.P. under the Nazira sub-division. The plantation program was inaugurated by Mr. Mohan Handique, the Principal of Dholebagan H.S. School, in the presence of Mrs. Sujata Borgohain, Mrs. Jahnobi Borgohain, Md Zeraul Rohman, Mr. Horen Gogoi, and the Executive member of PROBAAH, Sri Hemanta Gogoi, who serves as the Coordinator. More than 65 students actively participated, and over 50 saplings of various fruits were planted.
An awareness camp on child marriage and menstrual hygiene was held at Lakuwa Bagan by the voluntary organization PROBAAH in collaboration with Sivasagar ICDS Project (Rural) under Department of Women and Child Development, Government of Assam. Present on the occasion were Smt. Bharati Kalita, Special Guest with Integrated Child Development Project Officer, Sivasagar(Rural), Supervisor of Lakuwa Circle, Smt. Mubina Sultana Quuyum, Shri Manuj Gogoi, Block Project Coordinator, Smt. Chayanika Gogoi as resource person, teachers of tea garden area’s schools, parents, anganwadi workers, and adolescent girls and eminent personalities near Lakuwa Gardens.
The special guest present highlighted the problems related to child marriage in the tea garden area. Smt. Bharati Kalita of CDPO highlighted the challenges faced in ensuring the education and health of adolescent girls due to the daily hard working lifestyle of the parents of adolescent girls in tea gardens. As a result, adolescent girls become illiterate and are unable to communicate with people from other regions, leading to an increase in the prevalence of child marriages. Assam accounts for 27% of child marriages in India. She also stressed the need for proper education in hygiene and related matters to be taken during the period of adolescent girls.
Smt. Chayanika Gogoi, the resource person for the training, gave an informative talk on the hygiene that adolescent girls have to take during their periods and how they can take care of themselves during their periods.
The coordinator of PROBAAH delivered a welcome speech explaining the objectives of the organization and the reasons for the importance in the tea garden area. More than 69 adolescent girls, 26 parents, and other persons were present at the camp. Overall, the camp concluded with a major success in raising awareness about child marriage and menstrual hygiene in the tea garden area.
A workshop on songs of tri-Prashad was organized by PROBAAH, Samanaya and Rajmao Sanskrit Moncha, Rajapul from 12th July to 16th July, 2022. Noted folk artiste Dr Anil Saikia and his wife Mrs Dipali Saikia were the chief trainers of the workshop . On the concluding day of the workshop, Bandana Saikia thanked all on behalf of PROBAAH. The last day’s programme was attended by PROBAAH president and Leader of the Opposition in the Assam Legislative Assembly and Hon’ble MLA,Naira respected Debabrata Saikia, journalists Anant Kalita, Bhaskar Mahanta and Anshuman Dutta. The workshop was also attended by the members of PROBAAH, teachers of No 124 Phulanibari LP School, parents, trainees and members of Rajapool Sanskriti Moncha including Jinamani Duwara, Prasenjit Bargohain and Pankhi Dutta.
A netball tournament was jointly organized by voluntary organization PROBAAH and Nazira Netball Academy at Nazira Boarding Field on 15th August, 2022. The opening ceremony was attended by Mr Abdur Rahman, working president, Nazira Kriya Sanstha, and Mr Gajendra Sarmah, secretary, PROBAAH. Another executive member of PROBAAH, Mr Prashant Borthakur was present at the meeting and encouraged the players. He also thanked the president of PROBAAH Mr Debabrata Saikia for organizing the tournament in collaboration with Nazira Netball Academy. He also gave away the prizes to the winners of the tournament.
The World Environment Day was observed by PROBAAH at Santak LP School under Nazira Subdivision on 5th June, 2022. The day’s programme was inaugurated by Hon’ble MLA of Nazira Mr Debabrata Saikia. He explained the significance of the World Environment Day. The president of Bihubor GP and school headmaster, teachers, students, parents and local people attended the programme.
